Prieure Saint Jean de Bebian Rouge 2007It is a rich, full blend of 45% Syrah, 30% Grenache & 25% Mourvedre with an average age of 30 years. It includes one block of Grenache vines which are 90 years old and another block of vines that include all 13 varieties of Chateauneuf.
It was fermeted then macerated on skins for 4 to 12 weeks depending on the grape. Syrah and Mourvedre are aged for 12 to 18 months in 228 litre burgundian barrels. Grenache was aged in stainless steel to preserve the fruity aromas. Blended in May 2008 and botlle in June. This Wine is highly perfumed, rich, velvety with concentrated flavours of blackfruits, plums, raspberries and spice.
The Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 by Bettane & Desseauve awarded this as the best red in its category and 18/20 with 'A great wine in a great year, 2007 gave Bebian a lovely complexity of structure and unusual aromas'.
