Prieure Saint Jean de Bebian Rouge 2005A blend of 45% Syrah, 30% Grenache & 25% Mourvedre. Syrah and Mourvedre aged for 12 months in 228 litre Burgundian barrels. Grenache aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity aromas.
Blended in April 2006 then bottled without filtration in July. Hand selection on a sorting table followed by destemming and cruching before falling by gravity into stone tanks from the 18th century. Length of fermentation between 4 to 12 weeks depending on the variety and with minimal cap management to prevent extraction of hard tannins.
Wine Spectator gave a rating of 93 out of 100 to the 2005 Prieuré de St.-Jean de Bébian Coteaux du Languedoc.
