La Chapelle de Bebian Blanc 2009A blend of 50% Grenache Blanc, 40% Roussanne & 10% Clairette from vines averaging 20 years. Fermentation of the Roussanne is carried out in 2 years old oak casks from the Vosges Mountains whilst the Grenanche Blanc & Clairette are fermented in stainless steel tanks. Both tanks and barrels are stirred regularly throughout the winter.
The 2011 Hachette Guide awarded it 1 Star and 'the estate changed and in 2009 but the wine maker and tradition have carried on, for which we can only be grateful for.
Planted on Miocene lake limestone, the Grenache, Roussanne, and Clairette have concentrated juices owing to very low yields. The wine is bright gold with complex aromas blending a touch of toast with floral and citrus notes.
The Bettane & Desseauve Guide gives it 50 or 20 'lively and lemony with a touch of mineral to give it tension. The slightly bitter finish adds a special dimension.'
